Reliable fasteners, as always

This was my third order from Buildex, this time for some Type 17 Screws. I've always found their products to be consistent. My first order was for BattenScrews a year ago, and those worked out great. Then I got some Decking Screws last spring. Each time, the ordering process has been smooth, and the delivery is always within the expected timeframe, usually 4-6 days to my job site in Florida. The quality of the fasteners is what keeps me coming back; they're strong and I rarely have issues with heads stripping. It's good to know I can count on them for my projects.

Good for metal roofing

I ordered a box of RoofZips for a small shed project. The website was easy enough to navigate to find what I needed. They arrived in about 5 business days, which was pretty standard for my area in rural Texas. The screws themselves were exactly as expected, good quality and bit well into the metal sheets. I used them on a corrugated metal roof and didn't have any issues with stripping or breakage. Support wasn't needed, so I can't speak to that. Overall, a solid purchase for construction needs.

Need a bunch of screws for a commercial job, like pallet quantities. Does Buildex do special pricing for really big orders? Trying to see if I can save a bit.

Oh yeah, totally. They're all about bulk discounts. If you're buying pallet loads, you should definitely be able to get a better rate. You'd probably arrange that through your hardware supplier though, like a Bunnings Trade Centre.

Yeah, 'contractor rates' or 'pallet deals' are definitely a thing for them. They're aimed at the trade, so buying in huge volume is where the discounts kick in, usually 10-25% off.

what's the deal with the climaseal coatings? i see 3, 4, and 5. is 5 just 'better' or are they for different applications?

Each Climaseal number is for different levels of corrosion protection. Higher number generally means better, like Climaseal 5 is for super harsh environments, really coastal or industrial. 3 is more for general outdoor use.

It's about how much protection you need. Climaseal 3 is good, but if you're putting screws into metal roofing on the coast, you'd want 4 or 5 for sure to stop them rusting out super fast.

I'm doing a deck reno and need a bunch of decking screws. Is it better to go with Buildex or check out Macsim? Heard good things about both, just wondering if there's a clear winner for durability.

Buildex decking screws are solid, man. Used them on my last deck and they're holding up great. The Climaseal coating is a big plus for outdoor stuff.

Macsim is decent too, but for decking, I'd lean Buildex, especially if you're in a spot with weird weather or close to the coast. That Climaseal 4 or 5 really makes a difference for longevity, afaik.

Nah, pretty sure Buildex itself doesn't do direct sales or discounts from their site. You gotta hit up Bunnings or Mitre 10. That's where I always get mine.

Yeah, what that guy said. I think any 'deals' you find are gonna be through those big hardware stores, usually if you have a trade account with them. Buildex doesn't really do consumer coupons.
